Description
TAMPA, FL — Those who regularly travel up and down Busch Boulevard might have noticed something new.
The Florida Department of Transportation has unveiled new pedestrian hybrid beacons along Busch Boulevard to help keep pedestrians safe.
This $1,323,800 construction project added new high-intensity pedestrian-activated signalized crosswalks on Busch Boulevard at the intersections of 12th Street, Pawnee Avenue and Overlook Drive in Tampa. These were put in place in an effort to reduce pedestrian crashes and increase the compliance rate of drivers stopping for pedestrians.
Additionally, the existing rapid flashing beacon pedestrian crossing on Busch Boulevard at North Brooks Street is being replaced with a high-intensity pedestrian-activated signalized crosswalk.
Construction activities are expected to be completed in early 2021.
