TAMPA, FL — A federal grand jury has indicted two men accused of committing a series of armed robberies in Tampa and Hillsborough County in October.
On Friday, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced indictments against Jeffrey Davis Jr., 22, and Tyee Spike II, 18.
The two men were originally arrested on state charges but will now face a federal judge.
Jeffrey Davis Jr., 22, is accused of taking part in 10 armed robberies in Tampa and Hillsborough County in Tampa and FishHawk Ranch between Oct. 13 and 19.
They were captured Oct. 19 after a high-speed chase that ended when they crashed in East Tampa. The two men were apprehended while trying to run away.
Hillsborough Sheriff
Jeffrey Davis Jr., 22, and Tyee Spike II, 18, have been indicted on armed robbery charges.
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives worked with the Tampa Police Department and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on the case.
Davis and Spike each face nine counts of committing robbery, nine counts of using a firearm in furtherance of robbery and one count of possessing a firearm and ammunition after being convicted of a felony. In addition, Spike faces charges of robbery and discharging his weapon during a robbery.
If convicted of all the charges, federal prosecutors say Spike faces a sentence of 88 years up to life in prison. Davis faces a sentence of 63 years up to life in prison.
