Join us for a journey into the sunken garden where we’ll explore and document plant life through scientific drawing. Join us for a journey into the sunken garden where we’ll explore and document plant life through scientific drawing. Scientific drawing began in the field of botany where scientists drew plants to record their distinct characteristics. Modern scientists still practice scientific drawing by both drawing physical sketches and by using advanced software. You do not need to be an artist to sketch our natural environment. Scientists use sketches to communicate and record scientific information as part of their work. We will practice close observation and communication skills while making informative sketches. All materials will be provided. Register for free. The event is free with registration and spots will be limited to 25. Check in for this activity will take place outside on the blue stone patio in front of the Mansion. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. Proof of vaccination is required for entry to the museum. The Morris-Jumel Mansion continues to have strict Covid-19 protocols for the safety of staff and all guests.
