TAMPA, FL — Tampa Police have arrested a 52-year-old man in connection to a drive-by shooting Nov. 30 in the 4500 block of East 26th Avenue. On Nov. 30 at 1:29 p.m., police were sent to East 26th Avenue for a report of a man found bleeding in front of a home. When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital as a trauma alert. Detectives began developing leads, identifying Mardell Fipps of 44th Street North, Tampa, as a suspect. Detectives located him and set up surveillance on Dec. 2. When he was spotted driving a 2016 silver Hyundai, detectives stopped him at the intersection of West North Street and North Dale Mabry Highway where he was taken into custody and charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed kidnapping, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and felon in possession of a firearm. Tampa Police Mardell Fipps was charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed kidnapping, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and felon in possession of a firearm.
