Explore a massive parkour playground on a LES rooftop, take workshops from world renowned athletes, and show NYC how to move. After a two year hiatus due to the ongoing pandemic, The Movement Creative brings back its rooftop movement festival and benefit, MOVE NYC. On May 27-29, they will build a massive playground on the rooftop of New Design High School (Lower East Side, 350 Grand St.) and invite dancers, parkour athletes, climbers, acrobats, and anyone in the movement community to explore, learn, and move together to help raise money for New Design’s physical education program. The last event happened in 2019 with 241 participants, and they raised $3,000 for the high school with more than 700 hours of movement on the rooftop. Past workshops included acro yoga, juggling, calisthenics, parkour, and a dance party. The Movement Creative’s aim is to double their donation by offering even more workshops, creating a larger playground, and expanding the event from one day to three. MOVE NYC festivities will run all day, and no prior experience with parkour is necessary to explore the park. All ages are welcome, and the event will be family-friendly. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and there will be spaces to relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the city skyline from the rooftop.
