ORANGETOWN, NY — Here's a great way to stay fit, keep your social distance and help people who need help. Orangetown officials are organizing a Virtual 5K Race. What's unique about this is you can run or walk the 5K on any route and at any time, as long as you do it between May 1-17. As it says on the event page the Virtual 5K: Where community comes together even when we are apart. All of the net proceeds will be donated to local food pantries in the Orangetown area. You can even run/walk with friends if you wish, as long as you observe stipulated social distancing rules. Your entry fee includes a t-shirt. For those who don't want to participate in the event, there is still an opportunity to be a part of this event. For a $ 100 donation, you'll get your name (personal or business) printed on the back of the t-shirt which will be supplied to all participants. Local food pantries need help helping the many families who need some assistance at this time. Registration ends May 16. Sign up here.
