PEARL RIVER, NY — Pearl River's 'Parent University' program on mental health, which had to be rescheduled from November, will be held Feb. 13. The presentation, called "NAMI – Ending the Silence on Mental Health," will discuss warning signs and how a parent can find resources if they are concerned about an emotional or behavior challenge they are experiencing. It's not just for parents, though: "NAMI Ending the Silence" is for all adults – parents and guardians, educators, school staff and administrators, and community members. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Rockland and dedicated volunteer members and leaders work to raise awareness and provide essential education, advocacy and support group programs for people in the county living with mental illness and their loved ones. WHEN: 7 p.m. Feb. 13 WHERE: Pearl River School District's Administration Building at 135 West Crooked Hill Road. WHAT: Presentation and discussion led by Heidi Vandiver, Community Outreach Coordinator, NAMI Rockland Pearl River school district holds programs every year through Parent University to help the adults who support its students. All Parent University programs are free and open to all parents everywhere. Pre-registration is not necessary.
