Juneteenth GVL Mega Fest 5k Run is to create awareness and remembrance of the 22 Veterans that we lose to suicide every day in the US These events are open to the public, and open to all ages. YOGA with VETS is FREE 5K $22 includes Number Tag and event T-Shirt. Cause: Juneteenth GVL Mega Fest 5k Run is to create awareness and remembrance of the 22 Veterans that we lose to suicide every day in the USA. The United States Colored Troops (USCT) were regiments of the Army during the Civil War that were composed of over 200,000 soldiers. First recruited in 1863, the men of the 175 regiments of the USCT constituted approximately one-tenth of the Union Army. These men and their officers are remembered here as Freedom Fighters who won in the struggle for their own liberation. On this day we will celebrate the the Freedom Fighters and continue to bring awareness and resources to current veterans and family members affected by PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Donations will go directly to Vernon Veteran Services 501c3, whose mission is to provide recreational therapy to VETS suffering from ptsd, depression, and anxiety. This is the only African American Veteran Service Provider in the state of South Carolina.
