EVENT START-END | 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm CST DOORS OPEN | 6:45 pm CST WHERE | Bar K, 501 Berkley Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64120 FOOD/DRINKS | A full menu of food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and dairy-free options. This is Kansas City’s only Dog Bar, so there are also fun food and drink options for your pups if you choose to bring them along! PARKING / PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION | Bar K has ample parking available and is accessible by public transit via the 77 bus. ACCESSIBILITY | The patio, dog park, and beer garden are all wheelchair accessible but the space we will be in will have uneven terrain, so navigating in a mobility aid may be possible but challenging. OTHER VENUE DETAILS | This is Kansas City's only Dog Bar, so we encourage you to bring your dog(s) if you have them! Please note that if you decide to bring your pet pup, Bar K has a $10 dog entry fee that they'll collect from you at the door, with an additional $5 for each additional dog. This event will take place outdoors. If we need to reschedule due to inclement weather, we will contact you and offer you a transfer to the future event of your choosing. COVID-19 PROCEDURES | We encourage vaccination and masking at this event for the safety of staff and other attendees. What’s it like? Do you wish you could have more of the kinds of conversations you have late at night where for some reason, you feel safe talking about the things you actually care about? Bring your friends (or come by yourself) and your dog if you choose, and spend your Thursday night at an event where you know everyone else is there for the same reason. We'll be offering "big talk" conversational prompts on them to get you started, and we'll have lots of structure to make sure that you actually talk to people and that it's not awkward. Not feeling like answering a particular question? No worries, we'll have plenty to choose from, like, "When are you the happiest?" and, "If you were going to become close friends with me, what would I need to know about you?" We'll give you ground rules to make sure you feel comfortable and safe sharing as much of yourself as possible while still feeling in complete control of how much you divulge. Check-in for this event will begin around 6:45 pm. Please do your best to arrive before 7:00 pm so we can begin as close to on time as possible. We are happy to offer live ASL upon request. Due to the use of one-on-one conversations during the event, we request at least five days' notice to make sure we are able to provide an ASL interpreter for each person who needs them. We encourage guests to do what they need to in order to feel as comfortable as possible during the event, like taking breaks, eating, stretching, using fidget tools, leaving early, etc. While we acknowledge that there is no such thing as a space that is perfectly accessible for everyone, we do what we can to welcome as many people as possible while prioritizing the needs of those who are systematically oppressed.
