Description

HICKSVILLE, NY — The Hicksville Water District opened a new treatment facility last week to remove contaminants from the area's water. The new facility was specifically designed to remove 1,4-dioxane from the water supply. The chemical is a likely carcinogen that has recently been found to contaminate much of Long Island's drinking water. Town of Oyster Bay officials were on hand to hold a ribbon cutting for the new plant.
