Description

Press release from the Spokane Fire Department: May 9, 2022 On May 7, 2022, at 10:40 PM, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was dispatched to a report of a trailer on fire in the 3200 Block of West Boone Avenue (San Souci Mobile Home Park) in Spokane's historic west-central neighborhood. First-arriving companies encountered smoke from a single-wide manufactured home, with a neighbor applying water through an open window. Firefighters forced entry to search for victims immediately and located a male fire victim in cardiac arrest. Firefighters continued to suppress the fire while others successfully removed the victim and bought him to awaiting SFD Paramedics, where they began resuscitation efforts. Other arriving companies assisted in extinguishing the fire and searching the residence thoroughly. The fire's damage was confined to the area of origin within 20-minutes. However, the smoke and fire damage left the trailer home largely uninhabitable. Firefighters remained on the scene all night, protecting the homeowner's belongings from additional damage during the salvage and overhaul operations. The male victim was successfully resuscitated from cardiac arrest and transported to definitive treatment. At the time of the fire, the victim was in critical condition, suffering burns and significant respiratory system damage. Subsequent searches of the entire trailer home revealed no additional victims. There were no further injuries to civilians or fire personnel. This case remains under active investigation by the SFD Special Investigations Unit and the Spokane Police Department. This press release was produced by the Spokane Fire Department.
