PATCHOGUE, NY—Long Island wedding officiant Leann Pisano and her husband Lou Pisano are so grateful for the medical treatment they received when they were sick with coronavirus that they decided to give back in a unique way. The couple began offering free marriage ceremonies to any healthcare worker, EMT, police or military member at their Long Island Wedding Chapel in Patchogue starting Tuesday.
The couple describe the chapel as bilingual and gay-marriage friendly.
"They wanted to give back to those who served them, and who continue to do so every day to get us all back to some semblance of normalcy [and] to affect something good for the neighborhood and be thankful to breathe another day," the chapel's promotion read.
The free ceremonies are on offer through New Year's Eve, Leann Pisano told Patch.
