MERCER COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey's primary elections are set for June 7. And voters in Mercer County will be heading to the polling stations to cast their ballots. New Jersey has a closed primary system, which means you must be a member of a particular party to vote in that party's primary. Voters who are registered but unaffiliated with any party can vote in the primary by declaring a party affiliation at the polls. The deadline to register to be eligible to vote in the primary is May 17. Voters can cast a ballot in New Jersey's primaries: vote-by-mail, in-person early voting and in-person voting on Primary Election day. Online and paper registration forms and ballots can be found on the New Jersey Department of State's website or by clicking here. Learn how to fill out a mail-in ballot here. Provisional ballots will be available at the polling location in the event that the mail-in-ballots were not received and the registered voter would like to vote in this election. Voters will be casting a ballot for their candidate in NJ's 3rd District, which includes Lawrence, East Windsor, Hightstown, Hamilton, and Robbinsville. Rep. Andy Kim, and Reuven Hendler have filed as Democrats. Nicholas J. Ferrara, Bob Healey and Ian A. Smith are on the ballot for a Republican ticket. For NJ's 12th District, Re. Bonnie Watson Coleman has filed to run on a Democratic ticket and Darius Mayfield is seeking the Republican party ticket. Both races are uncontested. There are no local races in Lawrence Township and East Windsor. Two council seats are up in Princeton. Mia Sacks and Michelle Piron Lambros have filed their papers. The race is uncontested.
