501 Pounds Of Drugs Disposed Of During Morris County 'Take Back Day'

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Residents across Morris County helped combat unwanted drugs in the community by dropping off their old prescription medications at several locations on April 30. Morris County disposed of 501 pounds of unused or expired drugs, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said. The drop-off event, held twice each year by the county, is a safe, fast, and easy way to get rid of old medications. Residents could bring unused or expired prescription drugs to three designated drop-off locations: Shoprite of Greater Morristown in Hanover Township, the ACME Supermarket in Randolph, and the Stop and Shop Supermarket in Morris Plains. Law enforcement officials weighed and properly destroyed all drugs collected at the sites. The total weight of materials collected from each location is as follows: Shoprite of Greater Morristown: 209 poundsStop and Shop of Morris Plains: 206 pounds ACME of Randolph: 86 pounds"Year after year, Operation Take Back in Morris County has consistently yielded hundreds of pounds of expired and unused medications. This demonstrates just how much the community relies on this service. Our residents are active participants in combatting prescription drug misuse. We thank our law enforcement and commercial partners for making this annual event a great success," Carroll said.
