PATCHOGUE, NY —Although indoor concerts and theater have not yet returned to Long Island since coronavirus hit, the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts found a way to bring a live musical performance to Patchogue. The event, called "Music under the Marquee," featured Long Island singer-songwriter Cassandra House who performed outdoors. Patrons had to purchase a table of four seats and remain seated to adhere to social distancing guidelines. The Sunday afternoon show coincided with Patchogue Village's Sundays on the Street, a weekly street closure event that brings diners and others to the village. Theater director Michele Rizzo-Berg said that the return of a live musical performance brought some normalcy back to life. "In a world full of weird, we felt a bit normal. This pandemic performance was a success." The show sold out, and Rizzo-Berg told Patch that the theater is hoping to continue to host more outdoor performances in the coming weeks. "It was nice to do something that felt normal."
