LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A woman tried to kidnap a baby at the Lansdowne Resort spa on Saturday morning, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Authorities identified the woman as Sandra Brown, an employee at the resort.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Saturday morning. Deputies determined that a man was at the resort's spa with his infant son.
Authorities said that a female employee walked up to the child and picked him up. The employee refused to give the child back to its father, according to the police report.
Resort security called police. When Loudoun County deputies arrived on the scene, they learned that the employee and the father had been separated. The child's mother arrived at the office, and the employee eventually handed the unharmed baby to her, police said.
Authorities identified the employee as Sandra Brown, an Ashburn resident. She is charged with kidnapping and abduction. Police took her to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where she is being held without bond.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children offers several resources for children, parents, teachers and caregivers to help prevent abductions and abuse. More information is available on their website.
