NORWALK, CT — A container of rolled electrical conduit and a car on a nearby property caught fire during a blaze Monday afternoon in Norwalk, according to fire officials. In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Shay said the container caught fire around 1 p.m. on Meadow Street. (To sign up for Norwalk breaking news alerts and more, click here.) According to Shay, the container's plastic burns at high temperatures and produces highly toxic smoke. The fire then spread to adjacent products, including a car on a nearby property. Crews extinguished the fire in about an hour, Shay said. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Shay said.
