Description
PATCHOGUE-MEDFORD, NY — Two Patchogue-Medford High School students and two Medford Elementary School students recently tested positive for coronavirus, the school district announced on Friday.
In a letter to the community, Superintendent Donna Jones stated that the four students are all currently in self-quarantine.
"Due to federal health privacy laws, information regarding these students' identity cannot be released," Jones wrote. "Please respect these individuals' privacy during this difficult time."
The district begun contact tracing efforts and those considered to be in close contact with the students who tested positive will be issued quarantine orders by the local health department.
"Please note that our hybrid model of instruction allows for less students in the buildings with less direct contact, as well as the opportunity to deep clean on Wednesdays between the cohorts in order to help contain the spread of the virus," Jones wrote.
