Bridgeport Man Killed In 1 Of 2 Shootings In The City Monday: Police

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 38-year-old Bridgeport man, who was shot late Monday in the 100 block of Washington Terrace, has died from his injuries, according to Bridgeport police. Jose Alicea suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital following the 8:30 p.m. shooting. He later succumbed to his injuries. "This appears to be an isolated incident where Mr. Alicea was the only person targeted," said Bridgeport Police Captain Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "The Bridgeport Police Department offers their sincerest condolences to his family and friends." The shooting is under investigation by the department's Homicide & Identification Units, and anyone with any information on the shooting is urged to contact Bridgeport police Det. Martin Heanue at 203-581-5242. Anonymous tips can also be left for the department at 203-576-TIPS. The fatal shooting was one of two shootings Monday, according to police. At roughly the same time as the Washington Terrace incident, a juvenile was shot in the eye with a BB on Rosedale Street, according to police. "Responsible parties shot from a vehicle, suspects fled in an unknown direction," police said.
