Hi everyone! Meet Buddy! A shitzu mix! He’s an intact male, up to date on his shots. Buddy is an excellent dog, plays well with children, adults, and other dogs. He loves cats but they don’t always like him. He will bark at strangers, and is a great guard dog. He is not an obnoxious barker though, he just tells visitors that this is HIS house. He is learning to be on the leash, he sits, and takes treats very gently. He is still a puppy so he loves toys and WILL chew toys or things that aren’t his, that haven’t been put away. He is a playful fun and very sweet boy who will sleep on your lap and give to kisses. He doesn’t like baths, but tolerates them. But… we live on a very busy road and Buddy has escaped our fence numerous times. He needs a chain length fenced backyard or a vinyl fence that reaches the ground. We have tried everything to keep him in, but he’s too dang smart. The last thing I want is for him to get hit by a car, because our neighbor lost two dogs that way. We put in a iron fence before we got him and can not modify it. We’ve tried everything. People drive too fast on our road, and it would just kill me if he got hit. He has no recall, and will come whenever he feels like it, and does not pay attention to the cars. His previous family let him roam the dead end they lived on, so he’s accustomed in doing what he likes. He is potty trained! Likes to be inside or outside with you to play. He is getting used to car rides because his previous owners never took him anywhere. With a little encouragement he would do great! Buddy has long hair that will knot if he is not groomed regularly. So Buddy needs a family that can invest in a cut every couple months. Having a dog is not cheap, vet care and grooming can be expensive. Buddy’s ideal home: He needs an patient active family or person who will take him on frequently walks. Prefer to be in a home with children over the age of 8, because he likes to jump and play when he gets excited. Someone who wants a cuddly mop as a best friend. He is a smaller dog (apx 25lbs) with a LONG life ahead of him, so he needs a family that knows he’s a long time commitment. If you have other dogs, I ask that they be around his size.
