Press release from the City of New Orleans:
May 6, 2022
NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today joined the New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Fund (NOTCF) to provide an update on the grants awarded since its inception, and to announce the cultural working group initiative.
"This is phenomenal. It's never happened before in the history of the City of New Orleans, but it's happening now. NOTCF was a vision that grew from my 2017 transition team as I was preparing to become mayor. We are a taking holistic approach about who represents culture, who creates it, and who needs to be supported."
In 2022, NOTCF launched its Elevation Series. This series includes programming dedicated to meeting a variety of needs for the cultural community and elevating them for personal and professional growth. For the initial program, NOTCF has established a partnership with Grow with Google and K. Allen Consulting to provide digital skills training.
NOTCF will be assembling a cultural working group. This group will ensure equitable funding and support cultural industries and culture bearers. The working group shall establish a minimum of two annual meetings and include representatives from the cultural constituency (Culinary Arts, Design, Entertainment, Literary Arts and Humanities, Preservation, and Visual Arts and Crafts) and other community stakeholders and relevant agencies as needed.
