PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Philadelphia lab has found itself at the center of the mysterious deaths of three Americans at a resort in the Bahamas last week. Samples from the bodies of the victims were shipped to the lab, where a toxicology study will take place, Bahamas police commissioner Paul Rolle said during a news briefing. Results are expected within a week. Officials did not name the specific lab in Philadelphia. Patch has reached out to authorities for more information. Foul play is not suspected in the deaths, according to Bahamas Acting Prime Minister Chester Cooper. The three victims, two men and a woman, were found dead on May 6 at the Sandals Emerald Bay Resort. Another woman was flown to Princess Margaret Hospital. Bahamas police and health officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the deaths, according to the statement. A clinic saw at least some of the affected individuals with "nausea, vomiting and some symptoms" on Thursday, Bahamas Health Minister Michael Darville told Eyewitness News Bahamas. They were treated and discharged before officials later found the deceased victims. There is no public health emergency. Health officials have "some idea" of the cause but are awaiting toxicology reports before releasing information, Darville said. With reporting from Patch correspondent Jeffrey Perkins
