Description
Captain Austin Roe Society C.A.R. and Col. Josiah Smith Chapter DAR members were welcomed by the Hallockville Museum Farm members on the November 14th Cleanup Day. The children raked and had fun jumping into the pile of leaves before they rode the wagon with leaves to the compost pile in the back of the farm! Nora Metzger rang the bell out front for a lunch of pizza! "This is the best day of my life!" exclaimed Nora. Her mother, genealogist Linda Cowdrick Metzger, is a member of the Col. Josiah Smith Chapter DAR which sponsers this childrens lineage society. The Hallockville Museum Farm recently revealed their " Sustainability Trail" where signs along the way feature QR codes. Anyone may use their cell phone to scan the code and view a historically recreated message about each stop on the trail. Joan Nathan, President of the Captain Austin Roe Society, walked the trail. "This was fantastic!"
C.A.R. is for children with direct lineage to a Revolutionary War Patriot. DAR membership is open to any woman 18 years or over who can prove direct lineage to a Revolutionary War Patriot. We look forward to new members! For more information contact C.A.R. member and DAR Regent Heidi Nathan-Barry at [email protected]
