WHEATON, IL — Country star Toby Keith will headline Ribfest on June 17, according to the festival's website.
Keith is the third headliner to be unveiled for the four-day festival, which runs June 17 through June 20 at DuPage County Fairgrounds. The female-led rock band Halestorm will headline June 18 and country singer Brett Eldredge will headline June 19. The June 20 headliner has yet to be announced.
Toby Keith headlined Ribfest in 2017, when the festival still took place in Naperville. At the time, some residents spoke out against Keith performing, suggesting he was "too political." One resident wrote of Keith on social media, "Didn't he just sing a song about lynching? Way to go, Naperville."
Shortly after Keith's upcoming performance was announced on the Ribfest Facebook Page, more than 150 people commented. This time, the comments were mostly positive, though one commenter wrote, "Geez Where's the rock and roll line up? They all ready have a country night. Ugh."
Presented by the Exchange Club of Naperville, Ribfest 2022 will mark the first year the festival will be held at DuPage County Fairgrounds after being held in Naperville for over 30 years. In addition to live music, Ribfest will feature ribs and other eats, carnival rides and other family-friendly activities.
