LIBERTYVILLE, IL —Duck Donuts will open its first Illinois donut shop in Libertyville. The donut shop, which is known for its "warm delicious and made to order" donuts, is set to open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 14. The local Duck Donuts at 111 School Street will be owned by Felicia Osler and Kelsey Anderson. The long-time friends were raised in Lake County, where they still reside. Osler has spent 2 years serving as an assistant controller and Anderson has been a social worker for more than 11 years. "Our first experience with Duck Donuts was in Naples, Florida, and it was by far the best donuts we have ever had on top of a fun experience being able to watch our donuts be dipped, topped and drizzled beautifully right in front of us," Anderson said. "When we realized the closest Duck Donuts was 5 hours away, we knew Lake County needed one and decided to open a location." The decor for the 1,200 square-foot retail store is meant to reflect the franchise's iconic beach theme and family-friendly atmosphere with an outdoor patio and limited indoor seating. In addition to donuts, the Libertyville location serves Duck Donuts' signature coffee blends, espresso, donut breakfast sandwiches, donut sundaes, new menu items including frozen beverages and milkshakes, select retail items, and more, according to a news release. Customers can create their own donut combination by choosing from a variety of coatings, toppings, and drizzles, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon. The family-friendly stores offer a viewing area where children and adults can watch their donuts being made.
