Description
OAKDALE, MN — Crews from the Oakdale Public Works Department will be flushing hydrants this week.
The annual spring flushing helps break loose the mineral build-up inside the city's underground water mains. The process will finish on Friday.
Officials cautioned that flushing can temporarily discolor water due to loose iron particles, but won't be harmful to your health.
If you experience discolored water, take the following precautions.
Turn your water softener off during flushingDon't do laundry when the water is rust-coloredRun the cold water tap to flush your household system of any discolored water in the pipes
