Description

What is the difference between posting on craigslist and crossing your fingers that you'll find the perfect band-mates and going to a live jam and actually playing with people? This is an example: I started playing with some people at a Meetup called SeattleJams about 7 months ago. We only get together about 2x a month at the jam (maybe 7-10 times total) but found some really great players and have pulled enough songs together to play a paying show. We'll be performing at Station 18 in Ballard on May 28th (the old Ballard Firehouse for those of you that have been around long enough to remember). https://www.meetup.com/seattlejams/events/285824822 The first performance is always the door-opener, and providing we can deliver on the music and the audience likes us, we'll not only get asked back, but we'll get a great referral for other venues. It's always baby-steps at first until you're up and running. Come out and see how a handful of musicians looking for others to play with pulled together a band that actually makes money playing music. They don't charge a cover - we get paid a flat rate and get dinner to boot. The food there is great and reasonably priced - the venue is VERY nice with a great vibe.
