Rapper Young Thug Arrested At Atlanta Home On Gang-Related Charges

BUCKHEAD, GA — Atlanta police arrested Grammy Award-winning rapper Young Thug on Monday at his Buckhead home, according to reports. Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, has been named in a gang indictment connected with Young Slime Life, which prosecutors say is a criminal street gang co-founded by the artist, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported. Williams was booked into the Fulton County Jail, the AJC reported. He is charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participation in street gang activity. According to WAGA-TV, the indictment outlines the specific charges against Williams and his 27 associates. The court document refers to the group as the Young Slime Life enterprise, and stated that members "conspired to associate together and with others for the common purposes of illegally obtaining money and property through a pattern of racketeering activity and conducting and participating in the enterprise through a pattern of racketeering activity," WAGA-TV reported. Williams' lawyer, Brian Steel, told WAGA-TV that "Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever" and that he would "fight till his last drop of blood to clear him." WGCL-TV reported that he is scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday. Also indicted on Monday were Atlanta rapper Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens, and aspiring rapper Christian Eppinger, who was already in jail, accused of shooting an Atlanta Police officer six times in February, WGCL-TV reported.
