PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A Park Slope shooting has been deemed a homicide after the victim succumbed to his injuries Tuesday, police said. Cops found 58-year-old Jose Celis with a gunshot wound to his head near Fourth Avenue and Pacific Street around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, police said. He was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition and died on Tuesday, according to police. Celis was from Sunnyside in Queens, records show. The shooting — on the border of Boerum Hill and Park Slope — is one of only a few in Park Slope this year, an anomaly as the rest of the borough faces a dramatic increase in gun violence. Other shootings in Park Slope include a drive-by in August where a cyclist was hit, a still-unsolved fatal road rage shooting from Marchand a shooting in late July also near Fourth Avenue, according to NYPD data. As of Wednesday there were no arrests in the Sunday shooting.
