PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A 30-year-old man was shot on Sunday during a robbery on Union Street, police said.
The 30-year-old man was shot in the chest after two thieves broke into a basement at a Union Street building near Fourth Avenue around 4:20 p.m. and both took out guns, police said. The thieves took two duffle bags from the basement, though police said the value of what was inside is unknown.
The 30-year-old was taken to the hospital and he is expected to survive, police said.
One of the suspects was last seen wearing a black jacket, jeans, black bandana, and dark sneakers and the other was last seen in a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, black boots, blue surgical mask and gloves.
One witness told amNew York that there had been a "weed party" in the Union Street basement at the time of the shooting, but police did not confirm this detail.
There were no arrests as of Monday afternoon, police said.
The shooting is the second in Park Slope this month and at least the sixth this year in the typically-quiet neighborhood. Last year there were no shooting incident's in the neighborhood's 78th Precinct.
Just a few weeks ago, a 58-year-old Queens man was killed after a shooting near Fourth Avenue.
