RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — A 22-year-old was shot dead in a daylight shooting at the Red Hook Houses on Monday, police said. Cops found Conrad Waterton shot in the head in front of a building on Columbia Street just after 2:30 p.m., according to police. He was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Waterton was found just steps from where he lived, records showed. There were no arrests from the shooting, which police are investigating as a homicide, as of Monday night, according to police. The homicide is one of only five this year in the 76th Precinct, which covers Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Cobble Hill and parts of Gowanus. Last year, there were no homicides in the precinct, according to NYPD data. New York City has seen an ongoing surge in gun violence across the five boroughs this year.
