...and are trapped there with nine other working parents and 6 kids. Are you a teacher of young children who is looking for a pod? We would love to hear from you! Location: Kensington/Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn Who we are: We are a group of six families with four-year-olds (should be in pre-k this year) who all live within a mile of one another in Windsor Terrace/Kensington. All six kids were in preschool together for 1-2 years so they know each other well. We’ve been ‘podding’ together since July of this year and have an established structure for school that rotates through our homes. What we’re looking for: We’ve had two teachers working in a co-teaching model, and one of them is leaving, so we’re looking to hire someone to replace her. The teacher who has been working with the kids since September has created much of the approach and curriculum to date. Responsibilities include: • Work in tandem with current co-teacher to develop curriculum that considers the children’s social/emotional and academic development and aligns with the DOE scope and sequence • Establish and enforce a set of routines and rules for the classroom, which will include time outdoors and indoors • Work with parents to ensure that the various ‘home classrooms’ are safe, orderly, and clean, and allow for student discovery Preferred qualifications: • Minimum of two years classroom teaching experience (preschool-2nd grade) • Strong collaborator who is excited to work within a co-teaching model • Curriculum creation and lesson planning experience COVID-19 considerations: For the safety of our families and teachers, we have agreed to a set of guidelines for best practices during in-classroom and out of classroom activities, including topics like social distancing and routine screening, and will need to be agreed to by all members of the pod.
