This knowledge should include air brake systems, transmissions, diesel engines, cooling systems, HVAC systems, Exhaust Gas Recirculation systems, Aftertreatment systems, clutches, axles and wheel ends, and so forth. Technician should have a working knowledge of the diagnostic software used to troubleshoot heavy duty vehicles such as Freightliners, Internationals, Kenworths, Volvos. and their accompanying diesel engines such as Cummins, Detroit, CAT, and Volvo.
