SAFETY HARBOR, FL —Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives have charged a Belleair man with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 49-year-old Safety Harbor man who'd been missing nearly two weeks. The Safety Harbor man was reported missing to Pinellas Park Police April 11 just after 11:30 p.m. when he never reached his destination after leaving a friend's house in Pinellas Park. On Tuesday, May 5 at 7:27 p.m., Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies were called about an abandoned truck parked behind Advanced Medical of Florida physical therapy center at 7895 Seminole Blvd., Seminole. When deputies arrived, they found the missing man dead inside the truck from multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives learned that 20-year-old Rain Resuli was the last person to see the victim. Detectives say they arranged to meet in Largo at midnight on April 12. That's when Resuli fatally shot the victim, according to the Pinellas Sheriff's Office. Resuli then drove the truck to the victim's home in Safety Harbor and burglarized the home. After the burglary, Resuli drove the truck to Seminole and parked it behind the business with the missing man dead inside. Resuli was arrested by detectives at Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and charged him with one count of first-degree murder, one count of grand theft auto and one count of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. The victim's next of kin has requested under Marsy's Law that his identity remain confidential.
