Description
There were incentives to own an EV. We've owned EV's since 2013. Many businesses and towns had free charging. It was great at Restaurants and Hotels, plus it attracted business. Eat a nice dinner or stay the night, and wake up to a fully charged vehicle. The best non-Tesla chargers were AeroVironment and ChargePoint. Now the AV chargers are being replaced by a California company. The charging rates for a quick charge are $.49 to $.55 per kilowatt. So 30 kilowatts will get us about 105 miles. At $.50 a KW, that is $15. Our ICE car gets 38 MPG on the highway. So at $4.80 a gallon for gasoline, we can drive our ICE vehicle for about same cost as the EV. Plus OMG, the insurance on the EV and the Registration fees are just crazy. The Insurance Company says when an EV is involved in an accident, it is often totalled, thus, the expensive insurance. So we are thinking it is time to part with the EV, once and for all. Also, if you watch the TEDx video on how badly the EV's pollute, ranging from manufacturing, batteries, and dirty electricity, an ICE vehicle isn't so bad afterall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1E8SQde5rk And a bigger issue is getting to the destination in the EV only to find the Charging Stations are out-of-order.
