The Project Supervisor has supervisory responsibility for the crew assigned and managerial responsibility for the projects completed by the crew. The Project Supervisor must ensure the crew is completing the project per the specification and within the budget. Customer satisfaction is among the highest priorities and is achieved through the safe delivery of a quality roof, good communications, and being invisible. A key role for the Project Supervisor is the development of crew personnel as world class roofers. The Project Supervisor completes the project on time and on budget, to the satisfaction of the building owner. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage the crew for the installation of a quality roof in a safe and timely manner, while maintaining job profitability • Continually develops, trains and coaches the crew • Disciplines crew personnel when necessary for lack of performance and/or for violating company policies and procedures • Maintain good customer relations – act as liaison between management and the customer • Record work performed daily using daily reports; report crew time accurately using laptop computer • Review requisitions to determine materials needed and work with the shop to make sure all materials get to the job site; discuss and revise delivery schedules when needed • Attend pre-construction meetings • Determine job-specific safety guidelines/procedures keeping in line with D. C. Taylor Co. requirements • Obtain building permits • Perform Job Hazard Analysis • Monitor job site inventory, assess short falls, and order additional materials in a timely manner • Maintain company assigned vehicle and other resources required for roof installation and safety NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform other related duties as required and directed • Perform lead generation/prospecting activities KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS • High School education or higher would be of benefit, but not required • Roofing systems field experience, formal education, or a combination of these. • Current, valid Driver’s license required • Knowledge of project and personnel administration, and able to read and understand written scopes of work and shop drawings. • OSHA 10 and 30 hour certification; completion of the D. C. Taylor Co. Safety Orientation mandatory; meets OSHA’s Competent Person requirements • Ability to obtain and maintain site specific screening and contractor training certifications • Good reading, writing, and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate at all levels in the D. C. Taylor Co. and customer organizations. Must be able to speak and or respond to directives given in the English Language. • Must be computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft applications, CRM, Roof Logic, SharePoint, Internet, and Viewpoint preferred • Ability to supervise personnel while managing the outcome of their efforts. • Ability to prioritize events leading to project completion, and determine what must be done to achieve the best possible outcome for the company, customer, and team. • Must be able to carry or manipulate loads of roofing materials as necessary to stage project. Must be capable of the strenuous activity required to tear off and disposal of roofing material. • Exceptional listening skills required; ability to keep an open mind and be willing to follow and execute directions WORKING CONDITIONS • The work schedule is varied; beginning work very early in the day, and sometimes working until late in the day. Roofing work is performed at the customer’s facility. Potential conflicts with plant operations may make it necessary to work at night or on weekends. May require extensive travel. • Job requires extensive bending, climbing, lifting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Most tasks will take place on the roof and will require exposure to the cold, heat, rain, sun and wind and various height buildings. • Must be able to climb up a 60-foot ladder safety with 3-point contact; ability to lift up to 90 pounds and push up to 200 pounds; must be able to spend a lot of time working on knees; must be able to work at high elevations.
