Description

Learn how to turn your clothes from those you rarely wear into your go-to garments of choice ready for many more happy wears! This class can be taken alone or as part two of our textile mending series (Find part one here). In this class participants will apply the basic mending skills they learned in part one to refashion an unworn garment of their choice. Each participant will bring one to three unworn garments in any condition and learn three different ways to refashion them (with hand sewing, machine sewing and/or surface design techniques). Leave the class with a clear refashion plan and the steps to successfully complete your project at home, in a future class lead by Paige, or a future Fiber Arts Friday session at NE Makerspace. NOTE: due to time constraints and level of refashion detail chosen, not all participants may leave the class with a completely finished garment. It is also recommended participants have a basic working knowledge of how to use a sewing machine if they choose to refashion their garment using a machine versus hand sewing. WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING? Your own garments to be upcycled, photos or videos of upcycling ideas, sewing machine if desired. $5 material fee for sewing notions payable to the teacher. Nothing is required but participants may choose to bring any specific threads, scrap fabrics or garments they want to work with.
