MASSAPEQUA, NY — On May 17, voters in the Massapequa School District will head to the polls to vote for the district's proposed 2022-23 budget.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at four different polling locations: Massapequa High School, Fairfield Elementary School, Lockhart Elementary School and McKenna Elementary School. Your polling location is determined by where you live. You can check the district's website to find your polling location.
The proposed 2022-23 spending plan is $219,695,854, an increase of more than $9 million from the current budget, or 4.36 percent.
That comes with a tax levy increase of 2.6 percent, or $4.4 million. Most of the remaining increase is being covered by state aid.
In addition, there is one person running for the Board of Education this year. Residents can cast a vote for Christopher Brooks, who is running unopposed for an open seat on the board.
