UNIONDALE, NY — Uniondale's Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) has doubled in size, opening a brand new facility in April, in response to increased demand, the practice says.
The orthopedic practice gets the top-ranked spot in orthopedics worldwide by Newsweek and nationwide by U.S. News & World Report. The Uniondale location opened in 2000 as an offshoot of the New York City HSS hospital.
Two weeks ago, HSS held a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the new expansion, which almost doubled the practice's size to 37,000 square feet. A new physical therapy center was added along with a second MRI machine and more doctor suites. HSS is in the Omni building on Earle Ovington Blvd.
The expansion was spurred by an increase in demand for orthopedic care on Long Island, HSS said in a news release.
Patients come from all over Long Island, the statement said, including all of Suffolk County, attracted to the more convenient Long Island location of the HSS name.
