Description
NORTHPORT, NY — Shadow and Athena, 12-week-old bonded sisters, were named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's kittens of the week.
Shadow, who has a shiny black coat, is eager to greet everyone, Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, said.
"She watches her sister play and although she has a calmer personality, do not let her fool you, because she loves to join in with the fun!," Wild wrote in an email. "The entertainment value is high when these two wrestle, chase and roll around together, and neither will ever say no to a treat."
Athena is more than just a "playful" kitten, said Wild: She takes play to a higher level.
"Romping with anything and everything especially her favorite kitty toy – a simple plastic spring!," Wild said. "Even from across the room, she can spy that toy and her eyes light up. She adores to be mushed, and the minute you pick her up, she will purr like there is no tomorrow."
Both kittens long to join a home with lots of room to play and with a family who has lots of love to give.
Athena and Shadow were rescued from a lumberyard in Huntington within weeks of each other and were happily reunited through Northport Cat Rescue, according to Wild.
"They love each other very much, and we hope they never have to be separated again."
They are spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
