Description

This is a beginner improv class. People of all experience levels are welcome to join as well as those with no experience at all. In the class you will learn the fundamentals of how to create improv scenes, and some pointers that will help your scenes. We will play some warm up exercises the first 15-20 minutes so you get to loosen up and get acquainted with one another. Then we will dive into doing some basic improv scenes that are very short. As the class progresses the exercises will focus on specific skill building. You can participate as much or as little as you want. Questions are encouraged throughout class. Every week the class will work on different skills. This is not a class in short form improvisation similar to the show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" that has a focus on performing games. This is a class in long form improvisation, which is more theatrical with the focus more on creating scenes, and reacting naturally often as you would in your own real life. Even though this is improv comedy, you are encouraged to make supportive choices and not worry about making your scenes funny. This class is normally $15, but will be $10 for those who view this ad. Tips are also welcome. To enroll please e-mail in advance and I will confirm your placement. The location is 330 7th Ave, to the right of the Triple Crown bar, through the glass doors, 7th floor, room 711. Please let me know if you have any questions! -Steve L (Improv Instructor) ------ Steve L has been teaching improv for 7 years, and performing for about a decade. He has studied across NYC from all the major theaters and has produced and performed in hundreds of improv shows. His journey began from wanting to improv at public speaking and improv is now a passion of his. Steve has seen the impact that improv can have on people's lives and is passionate about teaching improv to others for those who want to improv their spontaneity, public speaking, or simply to have fun and try a new hobby.
