NORTHPORT, NY — Admiral Ackbar and Rey, 4-month-old siblings with an "incredible" bond, were named the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week. Admiral Ackbar, with his one black-covered eye and one white, is the top snuggler of the two, Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, said. Rey, meanwhile, is a "sweet and fearless" female cat. Both are quirky and filled with personality, according to Wild. "They follow everyone around, knowing no boundaries for personal space and affection," Wild said. "They love each other so much and can often be found curled up together hugging each other. They purr all day long, especially when having their bellies rubbed, which is quite unusual for some cats. This just another example of their trust towards humans." The siblings are easy to entertain, Wild says, as she spots them splashing the water in the fish tank or playing with a crumbled-up piece of paper like it's the world's greatest toy. "They are so bonded that they will fight over the same bowl of food, even when you put down two!," she said. "They were fostered in a home with other cats and children and get along amazingly with all, never passing on an opportunity to relax by the computer and help with the kids' homework." Wild hopes Admiral Ackbar and Rey will be adopted together. They are spayed and neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
