GAINESVILLE, VA — An 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting following an altercation at an apartment complex in Gainesville early Sunday, Prince William County police said. Michael Arthur of Dumfries was taken to a hospital after the shooting, where he later died. Hospital staff reported the shooting to police, who found the crime scene at the Somerset Pointe Apartments on the 14000 block of Deming Drive in Gainesville. The shooting occurred in the parking lot, and two cars suffered damage from gunfire, police said. No other injuries were reported, and police don't believe the shooting was random.
