SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — As the new coronavirus spreads throughout the United States, Suffolk County is no exception. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases hit 42,718 as of Wednesday morning. According to Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, the total number reported now includes the number of positives indicated with antibody testing — and, he has said, testing has ramped up considerably across the board. The diagnostic positives are less than the antibody positives, and the number of new positive cases related to diagnostic testing is down, Bellone said. He added that at times the county map is slow to update to the real-time numbers of reported cases.
