Here are the top three stories today in Charleston: An ongoing construction project on Glenn McConnell Parkway will impact drivers until May 11. The construction will widen lanes in one-mile increments. Travelers should anticipate nighttime lane closures from 7:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. as crews work on the project. (WCBD News 2)The North Charleston Police Department has arrested and charged Phillip Lydell Stevens Jr. in connection with a fatal May 2 shooting. Stevens has been charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon, and breaking into a motor vehicle. He is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center. (Live 5 News WCSC)The Charleston Fire Department responded to a downtown tree fire on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on Marion Street after reports of fireworks in the area. The fire was contained by crews within three minutes.
