COMPANY BACKGROUND: Smarte Carte, Inc. is the leading concessionaire of self-serve vended luggage carts, electronic lockers, commercial strollers and massage chairs, as well as other passenger and guest services. Smarte Carte is headquartered in St. Paul, MN and has operations in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Singapore. BASIC JOB FUNCTION: Currently, Smarte Carte is undergoing a transformation in which the company will establish multiple business units within the company, with Airports being the largest in terms of sales and profitability. The aim of the transformation is to organize the company into manageable units that allows for efficient leadership and management, as well as creating the required operational model that enables future organic and/or acquisitive growth for each respective unit. The new structure also offers new and exciting opportunities for career development for high potential associates. The Terminal Manager will be part of the future talent pool to potentially ascend to a senior executive position in the future based continued success and development. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall responsibility for Terminal Operation, with the expectation to deliver excellent results vs. annual and strategic plans Lead an organization of size (3 – 10+) Ensure daily operational performance goals are met through managing the labor force, and applying proven continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to improve productivity and vend quality. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the airport community as well as with peers within Smarte Carte. These are highly visible positions, which will drive value and significantly impact bottom-line profitability at Smart Carte, with potential to advance to senior management. EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years of experience in operational function such as manufacturing, logistics, distribution, process improvement, etc. P&L management a plus, but not required 1-3 years of direct management experience of either salaried or hourly associates Possess strategic leadership, planning and thinking skills, business assessment acumen and value chain mind-set. Experience with working in a cross-functional team environment Proven change management leadership capability and strong analytical skills. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Demonstrated strong business acumen as defined by a proven track record of success in an operational environment Excellent verbal and written communications. Some financial and analytical skills; must be proficient in reading, interpreting, and analyzing financial statements, and understand how operational KPI’s affect financial outcomes. Organized and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. Licenses & Certifications: Driver license required Ability to attain Airport Badge required EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business from an accredited institution or relevant experience in an operationally-oriented role is required. MBA or other relevant master’s degree considered a plus.
