Press release from TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce: May 5, 2022 Pottstown, PA – The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce (TCACC) hosted a REACH Luncheon on Wednesday, May 4th at the Brookside Country Club, where three panelists discussed, to the 50 Chamber members in attendance, their charitable efforts and how they have "Shared their Potential." REACH is a TCACC Program that brings together professional women in the tri-county region to network, build relationships, and access professional development and educational opportunities designed to empower and inspire. At this event, TCACC President Eileen Dautrich moderated the three panelists: Barbara Akins of Barbara Akins Certified Public Accountant, Terese Brittingham of Keller William Realty Group, and Tonya Petrunak of Reading Fightin Phils, discussed the work they've been doing with many different charities. Barbara Akins, of Gilbertsville, gives back locally as a board member and treasurer of Boyertown Area Multi-Service, a social service agency for the Boyertown School District, as well as treasurer of Brookeside Montessori School and treasurer of a local Boy Scout Troop. She also volunteers with the Special Olympics swim team at the Boyertown YMCA. Terese Brittingham, of Collegeville, generously donates to charities and has a devotion to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation where her largest annual fundraising event is the Keller Williams Charity Fundraiser that raised over $265,000 for pediatric cancer and research projects. She also is a sponsor of Red Day, where she encourages her staff and agents to offer community service and serve on committees and boards of local organizations. Tonya Petrunak, of Wyomissing, oversees Baseballtown Charities fundraising, operations, and programs as their executive director. Her passion and innovation led to the development and launch of the Baseballtown Dream League which focuses on the special needs community. Her inclusion efforts have grown the Dream League to have over 200 players with physical and mental disabilities and 1000 volunteers each season. All three panelists expressed the "fulfillment" of giving back and how fortunate they feel in their own lives. They all expressed how much joy it gives them to be able to offer their services, their monetary gifts, as well as their time to those who really need it. The theme of the luncheon and the discussion encouraged the women of the REACH program to add charity work into their lives and "share their potential." The TriCounty Area Chamber's next program for women will be its 2nd Annual REACH Conference on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at SunnyBrook Ballroom, from 11:30 am – 5 pm.
