NEW YORK – New Yorkers aren't the most imaginative when it comes to naming their dogs – for at least the fifth year in a row, Bella and Max are the most common.
The latest annual report from Rover, a network of pet-sitters and dog walkers, mined through its own database of more than 1 million dog names to figure out which were the most prevalent.
"In the process, we uncover the trends and cultural moments that inspire us," the authors of the study wrote.
Unfortunately, inspiration doesn't seem to be striking the pet owners.
Here are the top dog names in NYC, according to Rover:

Dog owners nationwide are turning to the pop culture world for inspiration. Puppy names based on Game of Thrones characters saw a 28 percent increase in 2019, including a 150 percent increase in the name Arya Stark.
Marijuana-themed dog names also had a strong showing in 2019, with the name Budder up a staggering 600 percent. Dank and Indica also saw high jumps of 116 percent and 93 percent, respectively.
Pepper, Ginger and Kona were the top dog names associated with food in the country.
