Description
PALM HARBOR, FL — Throughout the week, Palm Harbor Fire Rescue will be participating in National Literacy Week by reading at local schools and showing off what reading looks like at home with their own families.
The departments social media accounts will post daily photos and fun reading tips.
"It's important that we engage with all ages in our community and this was a fun opportunity to do so," Fire Chief Scott Sanford.
"The children were excited to have us come in and read, especially since the week prior we were at the school in a different capacity, showing the children our apparatus and gear during our Firefighter is a Friend program. It's a great way to encourage reading and give back," said fire and life safety educator Elizabeth Graham.
