Family Of 3 Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash; Troopers Seek Witnesses

PALM HARBOR, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a driver who fled the scene of a crash in which a family of three died. On Saturday at 11:37 p.m., an unknown vehicle was driving south in the center lane of U.S. 19 approaching the intersection of Tampa Road. Bruce E. Johnson, 65, of Clearwater was driving a Nissan Versa west in the left turn lane of Tampa Road approaching the intersection of U.S. 19. As the two vehicles entered the intersection, troopers said the unknown vehicle ran a red light and struck the Versa. Johnson's wife, Lisa M. Johnson, 49, was ejected from the Versa and Johnson was partially ejected. The husband and wife along with their 18-year-old son, Glenworth M. Johnson, died at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the unknown vehicle fled the scene on foot, running south on U.S. 19.
